  8. This program animates the Windows desktop with stars creating an effect
  9. similar to looking through a spaceship window.
  10.  
  11. On slower machines Stars may appear to be a little "jumpy".  This is because
  12. Stars conserves resources and runs only when the CPU appears to be free.
  13.  
  14. Running Stars a second time will terminate the previous instance.  This gives
  15. you a chance to close Stars if you selected "Hide icon" from the system menu.

  17. If anyone knows how the undocumented Windows function SetDeskPattern works I
  18. would appreciate hearing about it.  It would be nice if Stars could replace
  19. the background pattern for icons when it runs.  Until then it's best to
  20. select an all-black background from the control panel.

  22. Many people told me that the stars in version 1.0 were too small so I have
  23. made them a little larger.  This version does not include the popup menu as
  24. 1.0 did since that functionality has been moved to my Launch program.  The
  25. current version of Launch (as of this writing) is 1.5.

  29. Please feel free to distribute this program to others.  Just be careful and
  30. remember to include both files (STARS.EXE and STARS.TXT) together.

  32. Possible enhancements for the future: Add command-line switches to control
  33. the icon and the initial speed.  Use SetDeskPattern to change the background
  34. in the icons on the desktop.  Make the stars more interesting somehow.  Do
  35. you have any ideas?
